Progressive retinal atrophy (PRA) in dogs is a group of genetically heterogeneous inherited retinal disorders characterized by progressive degeneration and cell death of photoreceptors. In Sloughi, PRA is inherited in an autosomal recessive manner. It is an early onset disease with some individual variation in age of onset. Disease progression is slow and dogs may or may not become completely blind.
