Congenital ichthyoses comprise a heterogeneous group of genodermatoses characterized by abnormal desquamation over the whole body. Different genodermatoses can occur in different dog breeds. In American Bulldog, dermatological signs include a generalised scaling (epidermal hyperplasia), dermal inflammation, erythema of the rostral muzzle with scaling and paw pad hyperkeratosis. Dermatological signs can be visible at as early as a few weeks of age.
